The students of St. Francis Xavier’s High School, along with few teachers, visited the Manali Milk Factory and Giriz Dongri as a part of their educational field trip. The field trip began from school premises at 9 am proceeding to the factory visit first. The students were curious to learn about the production of milk and other dairy products.
The guide took the students through the plant and explained the processes involved in the processing of milk and milk products. The students were taken to the milk processing unit, where they were able to observe the different stages of milk processing such as homogenization, separation, and standardization. Next, they were taken to the packaging unit, where they saw the different types of packaging used for different products. The students were also taken to the cold storage rooms where milk is stored until it is sent out to the market.
The field visit to Manali Milk Factory was an excellent opportunity for the students to understand the practical aspects of dairy processing and manufacturing and fractional distillation.
After the factory, they headed towards Giriz Dongri in Vasai, also known as Hira Dongri or Datta dongri. Everyone climbed the hill for about 8-10 mins after which we reached the top. The scenic beauty was amazing.
There is a temple of Lord Dattatreya on top of the hill. There is a well in backyard of the temple, in which students saw a specific species of fishes. In the scorching heat, as students were searching for shade, teachers found a good opportunity and explained the importance of trees as well. The history and importance of Giriz Dongri was explained to the students by the teachers. It was a very educational and informative field trip.
